Artwork Creation Guidelines

The following guidelines will help streamline the ordering process. All art is subject to review. Artwork that is sent without all necessary files or needs correction will cause delays and may incur additional charges.

Preferred Formats:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Corel Draw (Mac or PC)
  • Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • Workable pdf and eps files

If your software supports converting text to outlines, please do so. If not, please include all fonts and supporting files. Placed images should be saved at a minimum resolution of 600 dpi. Always include a PDF file with your artwork for viewing.

Guidelines for Line Art

Line art refers to graphics that appear as visual solids and are void of gradations, thus appearing one-dimensional (type is the most popular form of line art). However, line art can utilize different and/or multiple colors. Please see the considerations below for creating your art for our various printing processes.

Art Considerations for UV Letterpress Printing

Minimum Type Size – Positive printed fonts should be a minimum size of 4 pt high. Reverse printed fonts should be a minimum size of 6 pt high (based on san serif, medium weight fonts). Finer fonts and fonts with serifs must be 2 pt larger respectively in order to print properly.

Trap lines should be a minimum of 1.5 pt thick.

Bleed borders should be a minimum of 1/16” thick.

All non-bleeding graphics should be inset a minimum of 1/16” from all die cut edges.

Art Considerations for UV Screen Printing

Minimum Type Size – Positive printed fonts should be a minimum size of 6 pt high. Reverse printed fonts should be a minimum size of 8 pt high (based on san serif, medium weight fonts). Finer fonts and fonts with serifs must be 2 pt larger respectively in order to print properly.

Trap lines should be a minimum of 2 pt thick.

Bleed borders should be a minimum of 1/16” thick (the bigger the label the thicker the border).

All non-bleeding graphics should be inset a minimum of 1/16” from all die cut edges.

Guidelines for 4 Color Process Printing

4 Color process printing is achieved by printing layers of dots of CMYK ink colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) to create the illusion of additional colors resulting in full color illustrative or photographic images. We can accept art created in all of the formats shown at the top of this page and will also accept higher resolution JPEG files as well (600 dpi min.). Please keep type size to a minimum of 4 pt.
